About Me
I am an IACP-accredited psychotherapist with over 13 years of clinical experience working with adults and young people across public health, community, and private practice settings. My background is in integrative psychotherapy, with specialist training in EMDR therapy and a particular focus on supporting individuals experiencing PTSD and the lasting effects of trauma—including sexual assault, medical trauma, accidents, and other distressing life events. My approach is warm, collaborative, and trauma-informed, grounded in an understanding of how difficult experiences impact both emotional and physical well-being. I place deep importance on building a trusting therapeutic relationship, working at a manageable pace for each individual while maintaining a clear focus on processing traumatic experiences to reduce their ongoing impact on everyday life.
Psychotherapy Education and Training
I hold a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Cork Institute of Technology (now MTU) and am a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I have completed Levels 1–3 of EMDR training through EMDR Training Ireland (an EMDR Europe-accredited program) and am currently undertaking specialist training in EMDR with children and adolescents through the Child Trauma Therapy Centre in the UK. My ongoing professional development includes advanced EMDR case conceptualization and treatment planning, trauma-informed approaches, Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, and working with neurodivergent clients. Additionally, I have undertaken specialist training in domestic violence and coercive control, sexual trauma, and safeguarding, while actively engaging in regular clinical and EMDR-specific supervision.
My Experience and Specialist Areas
With over 13 years of clinical experience, I support adults and young people facing a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and the impact of adverse life experiences—particularly from childhood. Grounded in an understanding of how trauma affects both mind and body, my therapeutic approach integrates EMDR, integrative psychotherapy, attachment theory, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and nervous system regulation. I work thoughtfully and compassionately to help clients process difficult memories, reduce their ongoing impact, and restore a sense of confidence and control.
